Healthy food and dietary has become the major concern for people nowadays. Among all food that suggested by health professional, Salmon has earned its research reputation as a health-supportive food based largely on its unusual omega-3 fatty acid content. As their name implies, essential fatty acids are essential for human health but because they cannot be made by the body, they must be obtained from foods. Wild-caught cold water fish, like salmon, are higher in omega-3 fatty acids than warm water fish. In addition to being an excellent source of omega-3s, salmon are an excellent source of selenium, a very good source of protein, niacin and vitamin B12, and a good source of phosphorous, magnesium and vitamin B6.

Intake of fish rich in omega-3 fat (including salmon) is associated with decreased risk of numerous cardiovascular problems, including: heart attack, stroke, heart arrhythmia, high blood pressure, and high triglycerides in the blood. Intake of omega-3-containing fish is also associated with improved metabolic markers for cardiovascular disease.

Tips To Start A Local Walks And Tours Business In Penang

Penang Tour Package

Penang Tour Package

Leisure is big business. And as the population’s disposable income per head increases, and more people retire earlier and live longer, it is getting bigger. Tourism continues to be one of the country’s main ‘invisble’ earners.

You could tap directly into this market with an enterprising business: local town walks and tours.

The trips can be as traditional or off-beat as you want: a pub-crawl around historic inns; a visit to the industrial past; a tour of local artists at work. They can be themed in any way you choose: architecture, events, characters, books, foods, cars – in fact, almost anything goes. Even the most unpromising area probably has something special, something unique to offer, once you start looking.

Be clear in your mind who your customers will be: school children, tourists, local study groups? This will have a direct bearing not only on the style and content of your package but also on the crucial aspect of advertising. Would advertising in magazines or newspapers abroad be best? Does your local airport/bus/railway station offer any possibilities? Or would advertisement in your local paper be the answer?

What would you want to include in your package: printed itineraries, maps, information sheets, free gimmicks, and travel to and from? Could you tie in with other businesses, example travel agencies, bookshops, hotels or hotel chains? Above all, ask yourself: “What will make my tours special?”

This will appeal if

1) You like meeting people

2) You’re organized and reliable

3) You like routine

4) You’re good at remembering facts

5) You’re something of an entertainer

1) An easy business to maintain

2) Good cash flow element

3) Lends itself to expansion

1) Repetitious

2) Your work could be adversely affected by weather conditions, seasonal fluctuations, exchange rates, transport problems or international events.

Future possibilities

1) Hire and train staff in response to increased workload

2) Develop a more extensive list of packages

3) Develop more comprehensive packages, eg week-long tours including accommodation, national and/or international travel.

Char Koay Teow

The forever aromatic, rich garlic and famed Penang Char Koay Teow makes foodies all over Malaysia hold this delicious dish in owe. Around the world you can find Char Koay Teow eating house bearing the tile “Penang Char Koay Teow”  so as to attract customers based on the pledge of a snack of Penang famous street food. The mystery behind a plate of appetizing Char Koay Teow depends on the heat of the wok: the higher the heat, the more savory the koay teow. The flat rice noodles are fried in an iron cast wok over very high temperature to be able to produce a marginally burned and smoky spicy. Experienced cook will add oil into the wok and followed by a small amount of minced garlic and fresh prawns. Next, noodles are added in, followed by a dash of seasoned soy sauce, egg, chives and bean sprouts. The final ingredient is the cockles. There are some restaurants will add crunchy bits of lard and slices of pork sausage in their Char Koay Teow. So, muslims need to pay attention for the halal sign before ordering your food. Chee Cheong Fun

Chee Cheong if pronounced in Cantonese means intestine of the pork, whereby Fun means the rice noodle. Many people will be curious why this delicious food consist of such funny combination. I would think that because the appearance of this snack looks familiar to the intestine of pork in some ways. Chee Cheong Fun was elected as the 7th Must Eat Hawker Food through an online pool on the VisitPenang website in 2009. Chee Cheong Fun is made of rice flour that is steamed and rolled up to approximately 10cm length, hand-sliced and served together with a mixture of different pastes and sauces. The sauces and pastes consist of shrimp paste, a reddish sweet sauce, chilli paste, sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds to bring up the aroma and as a garnish as well. Among all the sauces and pastes, shrimp paste (called hae ko in local dialect) is the most popular flavor among all and often receives great demand from the customers because of its unique taste of fishy flavor without leaving stubborn fishy odor in your mouth. Normal price of a plate of Chee Cheong Fun cost about RM2.00 to RM2.50.

Penang Laksa

No Penagites will be ignorant of this remarkable food if are asked of it. Penang Assam Laksa is a Halal dish and was ranked the 7th in CNN’s “World’s 50 Most Delicious Foods” in 2011. A perfect trip to Penang is always completed by trying this heavenly taste of Penang signature. Asam  Laksa is the only noodle dish in Penang that has a fish-based soup. The soup base is cooked with boned mackerels and stewed together with chilies, lemongrass and assam (tamarind). This spicy appetizing soup is served with thick rice vermicelli and often garnished with finely chopped ginger flower bud, cucumber, onion, red chilies, mint leaves, and sprinkled with the savory shrimp paste ( called hae ko). Normal price for a bowl of Penang Laksa is about RM3.00.

We have tasted the hot, spicy and salt dished as above. What about sweet dessert? Chendol is definitely an answer for the dessert fans. Cendol is a rejuvenating dessert that gives a sweet relief from the tropical Penang heat. Cendol has a colorful look – green, red and crystal ice.

The Cendol noodle is made from rice flour and gets it natural green color from a local herb called “pandan”. A bowl of Cendol is firstly filled with finely trimmed ice, red beans and the molasses is added into the bowl. Next, add one or two big scoop of Cendol into the bowl and finally followed by a small amount of fresh coconut milk. A bowl of Cendol cost about RM1.50 to RM2.00.

Roti Canai

Roti Canai is a national favorite in Malaysia. The Roti Canai is very much like Danish pastry, is soft, buttery and fluffy on the inside but crispy and flaky on the outside. It is made from eggs, wheat flour, vegetable fat and water, the dough go through an excessive flow of kneading , tossing, spinning in the air until it becomes a very thin sheet. Then, it is folded into a circular shape. Roti Canai is normally served with dhal, chicken curry or anchovy sambal. A plate of Roti Canai usually cost around RM1.00.
